EAEU member states discuss digitization issues
On the initiative of the Armenian side, a consultative meeting of national authorities over the management of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) member states in the circle of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) issues aimed at creating an integrated system in the sector of digitization and information and communication technologies, as well as discussing topical issues related to actual problems of the sector, kicked off yesterday in Yerevan.
For the first time on ministerial level were discussed issues related to conducting coordinated policy in the ICT sector and the establishment of an authorized body for implementation of that policy.
The main directions of the EEU digital agenda were also viewed as a strategy, and the risks of ignoring the digital transformation, and formation and development of digital assets, as well as issues related to the digital transformation of economic sectors, products and services, financial and labor markets in the EEU were discussed.
VahanMartirosyan, the Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies of the Republic of Armenia, underscored that this is the first ministerial meeting presenting the ICT sector within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union member states.
Nikolay Nikiforov, the Minister of Telecom and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation, considered it necessary to mention that in terms of business development it is urgent to develop the telecommunications sector, taking into account the ever-increasing share of e-commerce sites which results in a decrease of the level of the cash trade.
