Movses Hakobyan summed up the year
Summing up the results of the activity during the period under review in the field of army-building the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh, Defense Army Commander of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh, Major General Movses Hakobyan specified as significant the year 2013 at the course of the traditional meeting with the journalists on the threshold of New Year.
“Our prior issue was at any price excluding attempts of resuming military operations on the line of contact of the conflict sides and by suppressing the rival do not let him unleashing war in the region,” confessed M. Hakobyan. “And I must mention proudly that we succeeded exclusively owing to military training, strong will and presence of mind of Armenian soldiers, as well as inflexibility of our brave boys who are fulfilling their fighting duty on the frontline.”
Considering fighting duty as the most important issue the Minister informed that aiming at securing safe service of the soldiers the strongholds of our positions were continuously reconstructed and improved. It is characteristic that fighting duty is currently fulfilled in four shifts instead of three, thus “giving the boys an opportunity to rest longer and collect their strength and restore their power better.” Just by the efforts of such brave soldiers we managed to ease tension on the line of contact with the rival as far as possible and to keep to a minimum the number of killed or wounded soldiers. According to the Minister of Defense, the number of mortally wounded decreased by 37 and the number of wounded by 40 per cent, in comparison with last year.
Among other questions the journalists were interested in truthfulness of the gossips about the so-called “Nakhidjevan Defense Army”. In this connection he noticed that it is no wonder: “Maybe the new head of the Azerbaijani military department is eager to attach importance to the role of Nakhidjevan as a separate “unit” within the “package of reforms” being implemented in the defense forces. In any case, any regrouping in the rival’s military forces creates menace of war. And I repeat, for preventing arms race and Azerbaijan’s new ventures, our army must always be efficient and able to launch a deserving counter-attack against the rival.”
